Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and Sanitation

“Girls Helping Girls Stay in School”

A problem for girls in many African countries when they reach the age of menstruation is that at the time of their period they do not attend school because they do not understand the change that is taking place in their bodies, they do not have or cannot afford sanitary napkins and they do not feel safe.
In 2020, a project Sponsored by The Rotary Club of West Vancouver Sunrise- International Sponsor, The Rotary Club of Kampala Nsambya-Host Club, Rotary International, The Rotary Foundation Canada and Clubs in District 5040 and District 9214 in collaboration with Candle Light Foundation was initiated in Uganda East Africa with a mission to provide training in menstrual hygiene management and sanitation and the production of reusable environmentally friendly sanitary pads to help keep girls in school. The project is well established and produces a unique brand of reusable sanitary pads  "EnviroPADS" is available for girls and women.
